How are you tracking “Path to Upside” deals in Clari without a dedicated “Path to” checkbox in SFDC?

Our HQ team decided not to create a Path to Upside checkbox in SFDC but we do have a Path to Commit and Path to Most Likely checkbox. At the regional level, we still want to identify and track these upside deals for weekly reviews.

We’re looking for lightweight workarounds—ideally something we can manage within Clari without needing a new Salesforce field.

Has anyone found an effective way to do this? What’s worked well for you when system limitations prevent formal categorization?

Here are a few options we’re exploring:

  • Using the “star” feature in Clari to flag Upside deals — but starred deals are tied to the individual user experience—meaning we can’t see each other’s starred opportunities. We are also unsure if the NARR rolls up correctly or if filtering by stars works well at scale. 

  • Creating custom Opportunity Grid views based on deal stage, size, and rep input.

  • Exploring other creative ways to build a dynamic “Path to Upside” list in Clari.

 Would love to hear what others have tried — especially any pros/cons you’ve seen with these kinds of workarounds. Thank you.

There’s not a one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as Clari is dependent on Salesforce fields to filter Opportunities.  Would you mind elaborating on how your team defines “Path to Upside” deals using filters (e.g., Forecast Category = Best Case, Sales Stage is S4 or greater, etc.)?  That would help us offer some suggestions that might point you in the right direction for your team’s use case.  

Without much additional knowledge of your team’s unique use case, you could explore creating a column in Forecast Config (more information here) or creating an Opportunities Saved View that reflects how your team defines “Path to Upside” deals (more information here).  

If you’re able to share a bit more on your team’s specific use case, I’m happy to sync with our Clari SMEs to gather their insights into other alternatives.
