Hello Community!

I had a customer question that I wanted to highlight from this week.

When a rep changes positions, is there a way to keep that historical data linked to that user to the even though their position/roll-up changes?

We want to be able to continue to view the historical performance for individuals who are promoted'

EXAMPLE: An SDR is Promoted to Account Executive

  • In a perfect world, we want to “link” the SDR History to the promoted Account Executive to show the historical performance
  • The idea is to not lose the SDR History once that rep is promoted to Account Executive.
  • We want to ensure the Account Executive is updated to their new role so that deals closed moving forward correctly roll into the new Role/Manager.
  • However, we want to be able to compare their historical track record as an SDR

Is there a way to 'group' these users together so that a Rep could see their aggregate performance from "SDR User" and the current promotion of “Account Exec User”? How can we manage this?

Hey Ash!

Happy to jump in here:

Q1: In a perfect world, we want to “link” the SDR History to the promoted Account Executive to show the historical performance

Q2: The idea is not to lose the SDR History once that rep is promoted to Account Executive.

  • Luckily, as long as your customer uses the default Role Hierarchy in salesforce, that user’s history should automatically move with them when they are promoted.

Q3: We want to ensure the Account Executive is updated to their new role so that deals closed moving forward correctly roll into the new Role/Manager.

Q4: However, we want to be able to compare their historical track record as an SDR.

  • If you would like to compare a user’s performance in their new role to their performance in their old role, you could take an export from forecasting at the end of their last quarter in the role they are being promoted from, then compare that data to their future performance
    • Note: This comparison may not always be helpful - for example, if your sales cycles are significantly different between teams, this user’s forecasting history may not match the sales motion of the new team.

Hi Team!

I would like to add a second question to this. Is there any way currently to track the transition as it relates to the role hierarchy in say Funnel or any other analytics portion of the tool?

Currently I am trying to look at historical data across individuals that have recently moved teams, but I want to group them with their old team for historical purposes!

Thanks.
