While there isn't a single answer for every team, we've found that the adoption process is iterative and highly dependent on a few key strategies. This article breaks down some of the factors that can influence how quickly and successfully your team adopts Cadences.
Aim for Focus and Simplicity
When designing your Dashboards and Cadence Moments, the number one rule is to keep them simple and focused. Adding too many moments or data points at once can overwhelm users and actually hinder adoption. To avoid having to roll back your work, strive to keep your streamlined so that your team knows exactly what they’re supposed to get out of each moment or dashboard. Each Dashboard and Moment should be designed to answer one or two specific questions, and nothing more.
Start with What Your Team Already Uses
The fastest way to get your team to adopt Cadences is to build upon their existing habits. Identify which Dashboards your team is already using frequently (a weekly one-on-one dashboard is a great example) and use those as your starting point. Incorporating these familiar elements into your new Cadences moments makes the transition feel more natural and less intimidating. Our Moment Design Workbook contains some additional tips on identifying which Moments might be most impactful to start with.
Design for the End User
Think about who will be using the dashboard and what they need to accomplish. A great way to help them is to title each Dashboard widget with the question it's meant to answer. For example, instead of a title like "Pipeline Data," you could use "How much pipeline do I need to close this month?" This helps reps, managers, and other end users immediately understand the purpose of the data and how to use it.
Get Involved and Hold Your Team Accountable
RevOps teams can play a critical role in driving adoption. If you're a part of this team, join key meetings like forecast calls and help guide people to use the Cadences you’ve developed to lead the discussion.
This direct involvement not only ensures people are using the product but also provides you with invaluable real-time feedback. You’ll quickly discover if your team is having to go elsewhere for information, which might signal a missing widget or data point that you need to add.
Iterate as You Deploy
Ultimately, your team’s adoption of Cadences will hinge on an ongoing process of optimization. By starting simple, focusing on the end user, and actively guiding your team, you can build a successful and lasting Cadences workflow. However, as your organization and process evolve, your Cadence moments will need to evolve as well. As you gather feedback from your team or new needs are surfaced, revise your Cadence moments and Dashboards to integrate your learnings.
